Guidelines for Scientific Communications



General considerations

The evaluation and acceptance of the abstracts sent will be the responsibility of the Scientific Committee of the congress whose composition is public and appears on the Congress website.

Scientific Communications may be presented in two formats: Oral Communications or Poster, being able to fit into any of the following topic:

Taxonomy, Systematics and Evolution
Biodiversity, Biogeography and Conservation
Biology and Ecosystem Functions
Arthropods and Health
Dissemination and Citizen Science
Others

 

The Scientific Committee may suggest to the author a change from oral to poster or vice versa depending on the general interest of the communication.

Abstracts must be sent to the congress email address (xxcongresoie@ua.es).

The author defending a communication must register before April 28th 2023. The first author will receive the acceptance/rejection notification before May 30th.

It is only possible to present a single oral communication per author, although they can be co-author of other oral or poster communications.

Students who defend an oral communication or poster may request that their communication opt for an award, having to indicate it in the e-mail when sending the abstract. Please read the terms of the Awards carefully.

 

Abstract Format

The title, the text of the abstract and the keywords must be only in English. The abstract should not exceed 300 words.

To prepare abstracts, it is necessary to follow the instructions contained in this link.

A WORD format file is provided, which must be used as a template to overwrite: TEMPLATE

Underline the name of the author presenting the communication.

Up to a maximum of 8 keywords will be included, separated by commas.

You must select the most appropriate topic from the list on the submission form (Taxonomy, Systematics and Evolution; Biodiversity, Biogeography and Conservation; Biology and Ecosystem Functions; Arthropods and Health, Dissemination and Citizen Science; Others).

Abstracts received not meeting these standards will be returned to the authors for adaptation.

 

Format of Oral Communications

Each presentation will not exceed 10 minutes, with an additional five minutes for questions and discussion..

Each session will be led by a chair, who will strictly control the times.


Poster Format

The posters will have maximum dimensions of 80 cm wide x 120 cm high.

Each poster will be assigned a session and order number (both can be found in the final programme). They will be located in a space provided for this purpose and on the board with the assigned number. The author in charge of defending the poster must be next to it during the assigned session. The posters can be placed from the beginning of the congress and will be exhibited until Thursday 29th after the last session.

Awards for the best oral communication (Sponsored by FotocursosAlicante)

There will be awards for the best oral communications presented by students (see the awards terms and conditions). Two prizes will be awarded:

The first prize will have:

-a photoshop course ((face-to-face or online) at the FotocursosAlicante School of Photography valued at €310

- a diploma (will be delivered at the gala dinner).

The second prize will have:

- a diploma (will be delivered at the gala dinner).


Award for the best communication in poster format (Sponsored by Ilustraciencia)

The prizes are addressed for the two best posters presented by students. Check the Bases of the Call. Two prizes will be awarded:

The first prize will have:

- a scientific illustration course (online) by the company Ilustraciencia valued at €150

- an accrediting diploma (will be delivered at the gala dinner).

The second prize will have:

- a diploma (will be delivered at the gala dinner).
